Alumni are warmly invited to a special Worldwide Alumni Celebration (WAC) in Hong Kong on Tuesday 25 October, to celebrate the incredible London Business School community and the huge success of The Campaign for London Business School.

The Campaign:
At WAC 2013, we launched the School’s first-ever comprehensive fundraising campaign. Thanks to the incredible support from the LBS community, the Campaign closed having raised £125 million in just three years, as well as over 124,000 volunteer hours.

Hong Kong event:
Celebrating everything we have achieved together, this year’s Hong Kong WAC is an occasion not to be missed. Hosted by our Dean, Sir Andrew Likierman, the evening will feature a keynote presentation from Julian Birkinshaw, Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship and Academic Director of the Deloitte Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

The topic for Julian's keynote will be 'Fast Forward: Make Your Company Fit for the Future', drawing on key ideas from his forthcoming book, Fast/Forward, which deals with strategic agility in large organisations.

The event is organised in collaboration with the Hong Kong Alumni Club. Tickets are £20 for alumni, £25 for guests.

Book your place now!

If you have any queries, please contact the Worldwide Alumni Celebration team via or +44 (0)20 7000 7229.

About Julian's session:

Fast/Forward: Make Your Company Fit for the Future.

In this session, Professor Julian Birkinshaw will talk about the key ideas from his forthcoming book “Fast/Forward” where he argues that the current obsession with big data and data-driven decision making is overstated. The firms that succeed in the future will be those that understand the limitations as much as the benefits of information, and in particular it will be the ones that are able to foster a culture of decisive action allied to emotional conviction.

Professor Birkinshaw will argue that to address the changing sources of advantage in the business world, firms need to develop a new organising model, the adhocracy, to complement the traditional emphasis in large firms for bureaucracy and meritocracy. He will also describe what the adhocracy model means in terms of your style of leadership.
